Crouch respects Stoke, but expecting Spurs win

With Jermaine Defoe suspended, Peter Crouch is likely to start for Spurs on Saturday and the lanky forward is expecting Stoke to put up a fight.

Crouch believes that Tottenham’s quality should be enough for the team to continue their fantastic start to the season and take all three points from the encounter at the Lane.

“When they first came up they were favourites to go straight back down but credit to Stoke, they’ve done fantastically well and they’ve established themselves in the Premier League,” he told the official Spurs site.

“Teams might have fallen into the trap of thinking they were going to go out there and roll Stoke over last season but now everyone knows that’s not the case.

“We all know what they are all about. They are always a tough, tough team and a team that will be difficult to break down, a team that will try to impose itself on the game.

“They’ve had some great results, beat top teams and quite often teams just don’t know how to deal with them with the long throws and set-pieces, but they have a lot of quality as well, so we’ll have to be careful. It’s not an easy game.

“We’ve got to be able to match their effort and commitment and that’s something we’ll endeavour to do.

“All said and done though, with the quality we have, we’d like to say we’ve got enough to beat them.”

  1. These games are always difficult to judge on paper we should win easy but Stoke are the Bradford northern of the premiership blown up monsters with players that developed a missile throw in is thirty’s Mr Delap the same player that would get injured sneezing years ago.The head scratching Beattie the failed Everton 7 million reject and injury prone forward released by Moyes who couldn’t get him scoring .most of the players have bean released by other clubs but who ever does the training at stoke pompy everton fulham bolton blacburn should be signed by Spurs because last year all these teams beat Spurs once. And this year we have struggled to win and draw against pompy and bolton already and next its stokes turn to make us sweat with closing us down breaking with speed and launching rockets and muscle at our defence any other years except the last two seasons this game would be a chance to express our talented squad and score some goals but not any more. The reason could be in a footballer appealing is reduced 9 month ban for failing is energy induced drug test and in is defence he is using another failed footballers drug test has an example to get himself cleared to play .The case will be cough mixture versus bee sting both could make a laughing stock of footballers drug testing and send a message to the rest of the cheats get a silly excuse and get off.

  2. That was a proper rant about nothin lol. We’ve banged in plenty of goals so far this season and I agree that we struggled to get a draw away to Bolton (many teams would be happy with a point at the reebok) and struggled for an away VICTORY at pompy (with 10 men for last 30mins or so). But the key word on both those statements was ‘away’. Home to Stoke, I’ll take 2-0 or 3-1. Convincing result and performance with pav to score coming off the bench.
