Crouch response pleases skipper

Robbie Keane praised Peter Crouch for his reaction to being benched against Burnley and stated how important having a good squad will be to Tottenham’s goals this season.

Keane grabbed an incredible four goals in the game, but has moved to credit his fellow striker after he was left on the bench for the game, despite having scored a hat-trick himself in the 5-1 victory over Preston during the week.

Keane told the club’s official website, “It would be quite easy for players to sit down, mope and put their head down when they are left out.

“Crouchy must have been disappointed, but he didn’t show it. The way he was in the dressing room wishing all the lads well fantastic to see.

“As players, we all have to do that as well. The reality is that there will be games where you are left out, no question, and when you are left out, we still have to help each other if we want to progress this season.

“As a squad we have to see the bigger picture. Everyone who has been on the bench has played a massive part so far this season and that will only help us in the long run.”
