‘Crucial meeting’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs will today hold key talks for target

Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter this morning to reveal that Tottenham Hotspur will hold a ‘crucial meeting’ with Sporting CP officials today in what could prove to be decisive to securing a deal for Pedro Porro.

The Italian transfer guru admitted that talks are now at an advanced stage between the two clubs with Porro already having agreed personal terms with the north Londoners a number of weeks ago.

Up for discussion at today’s set of talks will be the payment terms of the deal and also the structure of payment installments.

The Portuguese giants had been holding out to receive the full amount of his €45million (£39.9m) release clause, however, Spurs were unprepared to meet their asking price while there is also interest in the player from Chelsea (The Athletic).

Porro has been a regular fixture in Ruben Amorim’s side this season, having played 24 times across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing an impressive eleven assists (transfermarkt).

Tottenham fans have been left scratching their heads over just how many sets of negotiations are required when Sporting have been explicitly clear in demanding their €45million (£39.9m) clause. Hopefully, the club can get the deal wrapped up soon to allow them to focus on other transfer business in the remaining days of the January transfer window.
