Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has stressed the importance surrounding tomorrow evening’s match against Aston Villa as the club look to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
Antonio Conte’s side currently occupy fourth position as a result of their superior goal difference over rivals Arsenal, who have the same amount of points but have played a game less.
With just eight top flight matches remaining of the season, Spurs know they cannot afford to take their foot off the gas after capitalising on both Manchester United and Arsenal dropping points last weekend.
Conte has previously refereed to each of Tottenham’s matches during the run-in as cup finals as they look to secure a return to the Champions League for the first time since Mauricio Pochettino was in charge (Independent).
Davies was an unused substitute during Spurs’ Champions League final defeat to Liverpool in 2019 and believes that a return to European football’s most prestigious club competition has to be the aim.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s massive for us. I think it really is crunch time now, we have to try and keep on the good run we’re on and make sure we are on top in every game.
“We can’t let any games pass us by now, it’s about picking up as many points as we can and I’m hoping we can do that.
