Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four received a massive boost on Saturday with both Leicester and Chelsea failing to secure victories
Chelsea, who are now just six points clear of Tottenham, fell to another 1-0 defeat at home, this time at the hands of Bournemouth.
The result is especially crucial considering Spurs welcome Chelsea to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next weekend.
If the Lilywhites beat Wolves this evening and see off Chelsea in their next match, they will overtake the Blues in the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, Leicester, who very much looked like being the main challengers to Liverpool for the past few weeks, were held to draw at home by Norwich who are 19th in the Premier League.
The results had some Spurs fans hoping that they can finish above both the Blues and the Foxes this season. Many insisted that the game against Wolves was a must-win on the back of Saturday’s results.
It’s going to be a tough one tomorrow but if we win, we go three points behind Chelsea with them coming away to us next Sunday. Massive. #COYS

Aside from needing to win our own games, If we want to get into the top four we really do need at least two of the current top four to drop points regularly. If it is just a situation where three or four teams are fighting for one slot then this becomes very risky. #COYS

You’re telling me if we beat wolves tomorrow we cut the gap behind Chelsea from 12 to 3 points in the space of 5 games? pic.twitter.com/phaqC9s34O

Bournemouth beat Chelsea today.. They now sit on 29 points
If Spurs beat Wolves away tomorrow we will be on 26 points
We then have Chelsea at home next Sunday – and if we beat them we will go above them on GD
Crunch time… Come on Jose and the boys, Show some fight⚪️?

Everyone jumped on Chelsea too soon it looks like, including me. This last inconsistent run is the sort of season most expected them to have. Still lots of games to go.

Never forget when people were fixed on mount being better than Dele after 5 games. Wow that was funny

We needed a win tomorrow depending on your point of view we either need it more (to cut the gap) or less because Chelsea messed up, for me we have to win though can't mess up golden chances

Spurs Web Opinion
Given how far off the top four we were when Mourinho arrived, we have certainly made up a lot of ground on our rivals. However, an away game against Wolves won’t be easy as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are one of the form teams in the Premier League. Three points against Wolves will give the team tremendous confidence going into the game against Chelsea next weekend.
