Crystal Palace boss believes they can match Spurs

Crystal Palace will face Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Grimsby Town last weekend.

Tottenham meanwhile trounced Tranmere Rovers 7-0 in the previous round.

Speaking about the upcoming tie, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson said that he was looking forward to the game.

The 71-year-old said he was happy that the game will take place at Selhurst Park instead of Wembley.

Hodgson told Football.London:”It is a good tie. It would have been a worse tie if we had been drawn away because Tottenham are not an easy team to beat at the best of times, and that would have given us a severely uphill task.”

The former England manager said that even though Palace had lost 1-0 against Spurs in the Premier League this season, they can take heart from their performance.

Hodgson suggested that Palace are capable of matching Spurs when they are at the top of their game.

He added, “But playing them at home, we lost 1-0 last time, unfortunately. We know they are a good team who play good football, but we feel in our best moments we are capable of matching them.”

Palace beat Spurs 1-0 in White Hart Lane in the 2015/16 season, on their way to the final. Spurs fans will be hoping they are able to avenge that result in the fourth round this year.
