Crystal Palace boss sends strong message about Eberechi Eze’s future amid Spurs links

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has batted away the speculation over rumoured Tottenham target Eberechi Eze, insisting that he expects the midfielder to remain at the club beyond the summer.

It first emerged at the end of February that Tottenham and Manchester City are expected to battle it out for Eze’s signature this summer (Daily Mail).

A few days ago, Football Transfers explained that the 25-year-old’s family have been invited as special guests to the North London Derby as Tottenham stepped up their pursuit of the player.

The report stated that Spurs have an advantage over City in the race since the midfielder prefers to remain in London owing to his family ties.

The publication added that while the Palace star is willing to move to Tottenham, it would take an offer of around €64m (£55m) to poach him from Selhurst Park this summer.

Crystal Palace want to keep Eberechi Eze

However, Glasner has now refused to answer questions about Eze’s transfer valuation, stating that he expects him to stay put.

When asked about the speculation over the futures of the rumoured Spurs target and his teammate Michael Olise, the Palace boss told South London Press (via Sports Mole): “We think [Eze and Olise] will play for Crystal Palace next season. They are two fantastic football players and two great characters – this is important for me. There is nothing for me to discuss.

“If someone is worth £60m, £50m or £2m, I don’t know – this is the business world and I am a manager. For me, it’s important whether they can help the team win games. The answer is yes.

“I have been in football for a long time and no team in the world can say on April 26 how the squad will look next season. We don’t know, but we think they will be at Crystal Palace next season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is usually no smoke without fire and the number of reports linking Eze with a move away over recent weeks clearly suggest that the player’s entourage has been speaking to various clubs. So whether or not he joins Spurs, the midfielder appears likely to exit Palace this summer.
