Damien Comolli claims reported Spurs target is could play for any team in England

Former Tottenham director of football Damien Comolli has insisted that Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi who is reportedly on Spurs’ radar is good enough to play for any team in the Premier League.

Spurs have been linked heavily with a move for Muriqi with Turkish publication Aksam reporting in January that the Champions League finalists made an offer for Kosovan international last month only for it to be rejected by Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old is continuing his impressive form for the Turkish giants this season, having managed fourteen goals and six assists so far this campaign (transfermarkt).

Aside from Spurs, the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United, Leicester City and Burnley are all reportedly interested in the centre forward (Net Haber and Sabah).

Comolli, who also previously served as the director of football at Fenerbahce, claimed in an interview with The Ornstein & Chapman Podcast that Muriqi as all the qualities to succeed in the Premier League.

He also compared the striker with Chelsea star Olivier Giroud and claimed that he could develop in a similar fashion to the Frenchman.

Speaking to The Ornstein & Chapman Podcast, Comolli said: “There were several Premier League sides who wanted tickets to watch Vedat before games.

“I think he could play at any team in England. Like Olivier Giroud, he needs to find a manager like Arsene Wenger.”

Muriqui certainly fits the profile of what Spurs need, given his areal prowess and his proficiency at holding the ball up. However, given the considerable amount of interest in him, he is likely to want to join a club where he will get regular game time. He will know that is not possible at Spurs with Harry Kane in the squad.
