Dane Scarlett hails ‘idol’ Harry Kane and sets himself huge future target

Tottenham star Dane Scarlett has admitted he is fortunate to play alongside Harry Kane and believes he can reach similar heights to the England captain in his own career.

Scarlett has emerged as one of Spurs’ brightest prospects after becoming one of the club’s youngest ever players to make a first-team appearance at just 16 last season.

The young striker has continued to be involved with the senior team by featuring in plenty of match-day squads under Antonio Conte, who labelled him the most talented player in Tottenham’s academy (Football.London).

However, while not yet earning a run as a starter in the team, he faces the tough prospect of superseding club talisman Kane to earn himself the lone centre forward spot.

Scarlett believes the 28-year-old is the model striker and professional player in the game and sees little reason as to why he cannot achieve similar results to him going forward.

He told MOTDx: “Harry Kane is my idol. I’m very fortunate to see him every day in training, and watch him when he plays games.

“Everything he does is just perfect and he’s a true professional. If I stick to it and keep working hard, there should be no reason why I can’t do what he’s done, if not more.”

Scarlett has one of the best strikers in the world to look up to in Kane right next to him and he is lucky that he gets to train alongside him at Spurs.

He is so young still which means there is a long way to go in terms of his development, but having someone like Kane around him will put him firmly in the right direction.
