Dane Scarlett reveals why he wanted to leave Tottenham on loan amid push for Europe

Dane Scarlett has now explained why joining Hibernian was a no-brainer for him following his winter loan move from Tottenham.

Dane Scarlett was once touted as the next big thing for Tottenham Hotspur, with the young forward previously described as phenomenal by Jose Mourinho.

However, he has yet to reach his full potential at Spurs, and Scarlett has once again been loaned out, this time joining Hibernian FC.

Pascal Chimbonda exclusively told Spurs Web the steps he feels Scarlett needs to take before earning regular minutes at Tottenham, which included loan moves as part of a two-year plan.

The hope will now be that his latest loan move brings out the best in the 21-year-old, who made just five appearances under Thomas Frank this season.

Dane Scarlett explains decision to join Hibernian from Tottenham

Speaking to Hibs TV, Scarlett explained his decision to join the Scottish club, outlining both the novelty of the move and the appeal of the challenge ahead.

The London-born striker revealed he had never previously visited Scotland before completing the move and admitted the opportunity was one he felt he could not turn down, saying: “I am really happy to finally be here. I flew over today and I cannot wait to get started.

“It is obviously a massive club with great history, and it is a new challenge for me. I have never played outside England before, so this is something different and I am ready to go.

“I have been looking to get out on loan for the last few weeks. Once I knew Hibs wanted me and made contact, it was a no-brainer for me. I am ready to go.”

What Scarlett is aiming to achieve at Hibernian

The striker also outlined his priorities and ambitions in green and white, making clear that goals and hard work are central to his mindset.

Explaining his approach and what motivates him, Scarlett added, “Playing for your country is probably the best experience you can get as a young player. I have played a lot of games (for England youth sides) and scored lots of goals there, and I am trying to do that here now.

“I would say I am hard-working. I like to press, and scoring goals is my favourite thing in the world. I like to create as well and help the team in any way I can.

“I just want to score lots of goals, play a lot of football and I think we can push for Europe, definitely.”
