Report: Daniel Levy handling negotiations for transfer target, only final details pending

Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media to reveal that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is now handling the final stages of negotiations with Wolfsburg for Micky van de Ven.

After weeks of speculation, there finally seems to be some concrete movement in Tottenham’s pursuit of van de Ven with a deal reported to be close.

The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that the Spurs have held positive talks with Wolfsburg for the centre-back and were increasingly hopeful of striking a deal for the Dutch Under-21 international.

Liverpool were also interested in the pacey defender earlier in the window, but it is Tottenham who are now looking to secure his transfer for a reported £30m fee as they look to improve their leaky defence.

Daniel Levy leads van de Ven talks

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the deal to take van de Ven to Spurs is now at the final stages and Daniel Levy is now personally working to get the transfer over the line.

The journalist added that the remaining talks are focused on the payment structure of the transfer fee and the number of installments of which the money will be paid to the Bundesliga outfit.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like this deal should progress fairly quickly over the coming days, with van de Ven potentially being officially announced as a Tottenham player, hopefully before the Barcelona friendly on Tuesday evening.

It will be interesting to see Spurs continue to push ahead with a move for Edmond Tapsoba once this deal is agreed or if they instead turn their attention to someone like Tosin Adarabioyo.
