Daniel Levy presents Vertonghen and Vorm with farewell gifts totalling £30,000

Daniel Levy has built up a reputation as a bit of a penny-pincher due to the way he negotiates transfer deals and player contracts at Tottenham.

However, the Spurs chairman has now made a rather generous gesture by gifting departing Tottenham duo, Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm, with watches worth £30,000 as a token of appreciation for their service to Tottenham.

Vertonghen and Vorm have both been terrific servants for the club over the years, with the central defender’s departure, in particular, attracting emotional tributes from Spurs fans on social media.

The Belgian international has been with the club for eight years, during which time the likes of Andre Villas-Boas, Tim Sherwood and Mauricio Pochettino have come and gone.

The club confirmed today that both players were presented with farewell gifts by the chairman.

According to IWC, while the Portugieser Automatic gifted to Vorm is worth £10,950, the Portugieser Annual Calendar presented to Vertonghen, costs £17,990.

In addition, the 33-year-old central defender was also presented with a commemorative framed picture which was signed by the whole squad.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is a decent gesture by the club and the least both players deserved for the professionalism and commitment they have shown over the years. Presenting Vertonghen with a framed image of ‘Super Jan’ signed by the whole squad is an excellent touch, and I am sure it will mean a lot to the central defender.
