Danny Murphy admits Tottenham transfer has caught his eye

Tottenham Hotspur began July with two new signings on the same day which gave some fans hope that it could be a busy transfer window for the club.

However, in reality with two days before the transfer window shuts until the summer there have been no new additions to the North London ranks.

There have also been departures with Kieran Trippier and Vincent Janssen heading to Spain and Mexico respectively.

Spurs smashed their club transfer record when they brought in Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for a fee in the region of £60million which eclipsed the £42million that the club paid Ajax for Davinson Sanchez in 2017 (Metro).

Ndombele has shown glimpses of his talent in the middle of midfield with some impressive footwork and immediately made an impact upon his pre-season debut for the club when he provided an assist to Lucas Moura within minutes of coming on to the field against Juventus in Singapore.

Former Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy has admitted that the signing of Ndombele has been the most impressive bit of business any Premier League side has conducted during the current window.

He told The Daily Mail: “The deal that has most caught my eye this summer was Tottenham breaking their transfer record to sign midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for £63m.

“I watched Ndombele a fair bit last season, he is an outstanding athlete and has this ability to burst past people and get the whole team up the pitch.”
