Danny Murphy has pointed out that Brennan Johnson is playing with a lot more confidence now that he has managed to win over the Tottenham fans.
Johnson’s transition from Nottingham Forest to Spurs has not been entirely smooth, with the winger struggling to have the sort of impact that the Lilywhites would have hoped for in the first half of the season.
The 22-year-old certainly came in for a lot of criticism, with some pundits even insisting that he is not good enough to be a starter for a side with Champions League aspirations (talkSPORT via HITC).
However, over the last couple of months, the pacy winger is starting to repay the faith that Ange Postecoglou has shown in him and is now regularly having an impact in the final third.
Johnson picked up yet another assist in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with the wide man now having 12 goal contributions to his name in the Premier League this season.
Brennan Johnson is starting to win the Spurs fans over
Murphy believes that the Wales international is now feeling comfortable in his new surroundings, which is why he is showcasing his best.
The pundit said on Match of the Day 2: “Brennan Johnson is also looking really comfortable now. He is gaining confidence the more he is selected, the fans are taking to him now, he is getting some goals and his all round game is improving. He’s not just a runner, he’s not just quick, he’s got more about him.”

One can understand the scepticism around Johnson earlier this season as the winger is a difficult player to judge. While he might not possess any outstanding attributes, he also does not have any glaring weaknesses to his game, being quite decent at almost everything that an attacking player needs to be.
