Danny Rose and four Spurs players who made Europa League bench start for U23 side

Danny Rose has finally started a game in a Tottenham shirt this season, although it has not come in the form that some would have expected at the start of the campaign.

The experienced left-back started Spurs’ U23 match against Derby County this afternoon, alongside a number of youngsters who made the Europa League bench last night.

Tottenham defeated Ludogorets 3-1 in Bulgaria and flew home late last night, with the likes of Brandon Austin, Jack Clarke, Harvey White, and Dennis Cirkin featuring on the bench.

All three were unused substitutes and have therefore started for the U23 side just 12 hours or so later back in the UK.

Rose has seemingly been frozen out of the first-team picture under Jose Mourinho since the defender returned from a loan spell with Newcastle last season.

The long-term Tottenham servant was not even included in the Premier League squad for the first half of the season and reports indicated earlier in the year that he would be frozen out if he did not secure a transfer in the summer (Daily Mail).
