Danny Rose expects Spurs to sack Conte this month – Names his preferred replacement

Danny Rose has suggested that Tottenham will have to sack Antonio Conte to send a message that the Italian’s public rant on Saturday was unacceptable.

Conte unleashed a tirade in his post-match press conference after Spurs conceded two late goals at St Mary’s to throw away two points.

That took Tottenham’s tally of goals conceded this season to 40, which is the highest among the top 12.

The Spurs head coach questioned the players’ commitment to the team’s cause and accused them of being selfish.

He also suggested that the dressing room was lacking in the fight and desire needed to see out wins (Football.London).

Perhaps the most alarming part of Conte’s rant was his suggestion that the club are used to failing over the last two decades, irrespective of which manager is in charge.

Rose believes that the Italian will be replaced by an interim manager as the club would not tolerate such statements publicly.

The former Tottenham left-back admitted that he would love to see Mauricio Pochettino back at N17 but questioned if the club would go back to the Argentine after sacking him back in 2019.

Rose told Stadium Astro: “After that interview, I don’t see how it is possible that he will be the manager after the break.

“I think the club has to set a stance out that a manager cannot criticise the hierarchy in public like that. I think the next manager will be an interim. After that, I am not sure, I am really not sure.

“Going and getting Poch would be admitting that they were wrong. I am not sure the club would admit they were wrong in sacking him. For me, I would love him to go back. I would say Poch.”

I think it is quite clear that Levy is more than ready to swallow his pride and reappoint Pochettino if he feels that would be the right decision, with the Spurs chairman trying to bring the Argentine back in 2021.

However, it seems like the club’s hierarchy are certainly not unanimous in wanting Pochettino, with Fabio Paratici appearing to be one of those who is opposed to the idea.
