Danny Rose makes bold prediction about Tottenham’s top four hopes this season

Danny Rose is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will pip Newcastle United to a fourth place finish this season.

Spurs moved back into the Champions League places with a win over West Ham United on Sunday after Newcastle fell to a 2-0 loss at home to Liverpool on Saturday.

Although Eddie Howe’s men have a game in hand over the Lilywhites, their recent form has left a lot to be desired, with the Magpies having won just one of their last seven Premier League matches.

Spurs themselves have struggled for consistency over recent months and are without some key players at the moment, with the likes of Hugo Lloris, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Yves Bissouma out with long-term injuries.

Antonio Conte’s men will be hoping that their assured display against the Hammers on Sunday was a sign of things to come.

Rose has opined that his former side showed enough in the second half of last season and in the first few months of this campaign, to suggest that they will clinch the fourth spot.

The 32-year-old told JOE’s YouTube channel: “The run that they had towards the end of last season under Conte finishing fourth and the run they had until November time this season.

“They just need to get through this blip and finish well in the last three months. I see them catching Newcastle. They’ll finish fourth and qualify again for the Champions League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I find it quite unbelievable that we are now in fourth place, given how poorly we have played over the last few months. In many ways, we are lucky that Liverpool and Chelsea are having such terrible campaigns.

In fact, I believe that Liverpool, not Newcastle, are likely to be our biggest competitor for a top-four spot. The Reds are just seven points behind us with two games in hand at the moment.
