Danny Rose reveals the promise Pochettino made him when joining Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been widely praised this season, as well as throughout his reign as Spurs gaffer, as he has led the club to their first ever Champions League final.

When Poch took over at the club five years ago, Spurs were merely on the fringes of top European football, but have now qualified for the top competition for four years running and may even lift in in a few weeks.

Danny Rose is one player who has come on leaps and bounds under the wing of Pochettino, turning the left back into one of the very best in the Premier League.

Rose has now revealed that Pochettino promised to turn him into an England player when he first took over the side.

Danny later made his debut in March 2016, and has since gone on to scoop 26 caps, and has even been included in Southgate’s preliminary squad for the first ever Nations League finals (The FA).

Who knows, Rose could find himself lifting two major trophies come the end of this season.

Rose said (talkSPORT): “He’s changed me as a player and promised me he’d turn me into an England player. He fully deserves all the accolades that have come his way.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is not an isolated incident. Danny Rose has become one of the world’s best left backs. Kyle Walker was the same on the other side. Kieran Trippier too broke into the England team, as has Eric Dier and young Harry Winks. Kane has become one of the world’s best strikers. Lloris has lifted the World Cup. Alli has gone from League 1 to the Champions League final in a matter of years. The list goes on and on and on, and so much of that is down to Pochettino, his mentality, and his faith in youth.
