Pochettino had a transformative effect on Spurs during his five-and-a-half years in charge of the club, turning the North Londoners into genuine Premier League title contenders and even taking them to the Champions League final in 2019.

While he did not manage to lead the club to silverware, Pochettino was adored by much of the Spurs fan base and established a genuine connection with the supporters.

However, that bond was seemingly broken 12 months ago, with some Tottenham fans not taking too kindly to the fact that their former boss took over at rivals Chelsea.

The 52-year-old has now parted ways with the Blues after just one season at Stamford Bridge and is now being mooted as a potential replacement for Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United (Football Insider).

Rose has insisted that Pochettino would have enjoyed more success at Spurs had he been backed to rebuild the squad and admitted that he would love to see his former boss back in N17 sometime in the future to continue his work.

Danny Rose hopes for future Pochettino return to Tottenham

The former Tottenham left-back told The Spurs Show: “There were rumours that was what he was hoping for (a rebuild), but it didn’t happen.

“I’m a huge fan of Ange right now, but if Poch had been able to get what he’s inherited or whatever he’d still be at the club now.

“I was gutted he left. They say you should never go back, but I believe he has unfinished business at Tottenham and hopefully, he will go back.”

If a Pochettino-Spurs reunion was going to happen, last summer was probably the time for it but the Tottenham hierarchy decided against it. It does appear as if that ship has now sailed.

Ange Postecoglou is slowly revamping the Tottenham first-team squad and needs to be given the resources and time to ensure every chance of success over the next couple of years.
