Darren Bent believes potential signing would be a game-changer for Spurs

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has backed the club’s rumoured pursuit of Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech and insisted that landing the 26-year-old would represent a massive boost for the club.

The Moroccan international has had a couple of outstanding seasons at the Dutch capital and is continuing to replicate the same form this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

Ziyech is said to the subject of a battle between Spurs and their North London rivals Arsenal in January, with both sides said to be keen on bringing him to the Premier League.

The Dutch giants are reportedly open to letting him leave for £43million this month despite him being contracted to the club until 2022 (Calico Mercato).

Bent has urged Tottenham to do all they can to get the deal over the line as he insisted that signing the pacey left-footer would give a new dimension to their attack.

When asked if Ziyech would be a good addition for Spurs, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah of course. But they do need someone who is going to stick the ball in the back of the net as Harry Kane is out.

“So yeah I mean like him, he was brilliant for Ajax last season, he’s been good for them. Obviously, it’ll be nice to have him on the right, Son on the left, and a centre-forward between them.

“So yeah that will be a gamechanger offensively going forward.”

I would prefer signing Ziyech over bringing in Thomas Lemar on loan from Atletico. While the Moroccan is yet to prove himself at a top league like the Premier League, his performances in the Champions League certainly show that he has required quality. In the current market, £43million sounds like an absolute steal for the prolific winger.
