Darren Bent claims senior Spurs star is conflicted over his future at the club

Former Spurs striker Darren Bent has claimed that Danny Rose is conflicted over whether to stay at Spurs or leave the club due to his troubled relationship with Daniel Levy.

Rose admitted a few months ago that he has no intention of leaving the club until he runs out his contract which still has 18 months to run (The Guardian).

Just a few days ago, the England international reiterated his intention to stay at the club for the remaining duration of his contract but admitted that he hadn’t spoken to Jose Mourinho regarding his future (The Guardian).

Rose’s performances this season have left a lot to be desired as he has looked a shadow of the player he was a few years ago.

Bent feels that the 29-year-old would be happy to stay at Tottenham as the Portuguese manager could guide them to silverware. However, he feels that the defender’s relationship with Daniel Levy has broken down.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bent said, “I think Danny Rose doesn’t know whether he is coming or going.

“Potentially I do think he wants to stay there under Mourinho as he believes they’ll win things, or at least be closer.

“But at the same time, I’m not sure he wants to stay at Spurs as maybe the relationship between him and Levy has broken down so he wants out of there.

“So he’s kind of caught in a catch 22 because he wants to stay but he also wants to leave. But the question is where does he go after he leaves Spurs?”

It doesn’t appear as if Rose is likely to regain his form anytime soon. It very much looks like he isn’t motivated enough to give his all when he takes the field. So, if he has decided that he won’t leave until his contract runs out, I wouldn’t mind if Mourinho decides not to play him at all for that duration.
