Darren Bent compliments Spurs star after ‘unselfish’ performance

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur forward, Darren Bent, has applauded Danny Rose for his unselfish performance against Bulgaria in the Euro 2020 qualifier match for England on Saturday.

Rose was given the nod ahead of Ben Chilwell, with the Leicester man featuring heavily for the England first team of late.

Bent certainly thinks that Rose did not disappoint and insists that he likes both of Southgate’s options at left-back due to their attacking play.

Danny Rose had the likes of Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford on the wings ahead of him during the match at Wembley this week.

Unsurprisingly, as two of the brightest attackers in the country, both of these lads took every opportunity to cut inside and have a pop or a run at goal.

However, Bent was impressed by the fact that Rose always offered an overlap option and dragged an opposition defender away to create space, without getting frustrated when the ball didn’t come his way.

Bent said (Football Insider): “That’s a battle there, between him and Chilwell, I really like Ben Chilwell as much as I like Danny Rose.

“Them two are quite similar in that they both want to get forward. I was delighted for Danny Rose (v Bulgaria), to be fair to him he kept going and kept going.

“There were so many times he would make that unselfish run down the outside where someone would cut in and try to have a shot, not sliding in, didn’t get frustrated. A performance like that, when you’re so dominant, I thought he played well.”
