Darren Bent names two former Spurs players in his best starting XI

Darren Bent may have only played for Spurs for a couple of years but he did play with some top players during his time at the club.

The Lilywhites struggled in both campaigns and the striker eventually ended up being sold to Sunderland in the summer of 2009 but it looks like he has some good memories of his time in North London.

The former England international took to social media to pick an all-time eleven of the best players he’s played with and against and two former Tottenham stars made the list – Ledley King and Luka Modric.

King’s injuries problems were taking its toll on him during Bent’s time at the club but the defender was still one of the best players whenever he stepped on to the pitch.

Modric on the other hand really started to come into his own after an average first season at the club before eventually earning a move to Real Madrid where he won several titles, including the Ballon d’Or in 2018.

I believe Ledley King was possibly the greatest captain England never had. He was never the loudest but he led by example and bought an element of calmness to the backline whenever he was on the pitch. It really is a shame that his injuries prevented him from fulfilling his potential as a player.
