Darren Bent reveals what rival teams will be thinking ahead of playing Tottenham

Over the course of the season, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have been a remarkable duo for Tottenham. The potent partnership has propelled Spurs into an exciting position in the Premier League, with the club also reaching a Carabao Cup Final.

As Tottenham reach the midway point of the season, the dynamic duo is already on track for greatness. The pair need to combine for just one more goal to break the record for goal combinations in a season (Premier League).

The current record is now held by both Son/Kane and Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton for Blackburn in 1995.

Thus far, Kane has been involved in twelve goals and made eleven assists in the league (TransferMarkt), while Son has scored twelve times and assisted six (TransferMarkt).

However, outside of the pairing, Tanguy Ndombele has the most Premier League goals in the side with a total of just three so far this season (Premier League).

Former Spurs striker, Darren Bent has now claimed that clubs will be looking to stop Kane and Son in order to get results against Tottenham this season.

On the lack of other firepower, he said (Football Insider): “It’s not a secret.

“Son and Kane are outstanding. They’re the only real goal threat that they have.

“I remember the Chelsea game, where they completely nullified Kane and Son and they had nothing more to offer. They’ve brought Bale in and we thought he’d be the answer but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen.

“Bergwijn hasn’t scored a goal all season and Lucas Moura doesn’t really get too many opportunities.

“It’s not like they haven’t got really good players, but they don’t have firepower everywhere.

“Other teams will be looking at that and thinking that if they can stop Kane and Son then there’s no reason they can’t get something from the game.

“Someone has got to come up with some kind of goal threat. When you get too reliant on one player or two players, teams will go out of their way to stop them.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

It will definitely frustrate Jose Mourinho regarding the lack of goals from other players within the Spurs squad. The form of Kane and Son has been remarkable this season and if the North London club continues to win matches, the fanbase will be happy no matter who scores the goals.
