Darren Bent urges Premier League player to reject a move to former club Spurs

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent has urged Liverpool starlet, Rhian Brewster to reject any potential loan move to his old club.

Brewster enjoyed a successful loan spell at Swansea City last season, featuring 22 times and scoring 11 goals for the Welsh side in the Championship (Wikipedia).

However, to this date, he has only ever made three Liverpool appearances and currently has the likes of Firmino, Salah, Mane, and Origi to beat into Klopp’s starting XI.

Therefore, it is no surprise to see the 20-year-old being linked to another loan move for the 2020/21 campaign.

Football Insider reported this month that Tottenham wee plotting a shock loan move for Brewster in order to use him as Kane’s understudy this season. Tottenham currently only have one senior striker on their books after loaning out Troy Parrott to Millwall.

However, Bent believes that such a move would mess with the young striker’s development, as he cannot spend a season sitting on the bench.

Bent told Football Insider: “You’re messing around with Brewster’s development. He can’t be somebody who sits on the bench.

“I would wait and see what happens and go somewhere where he could progress and play.

“I do like what Mourinho’s doing, but I’m just a bit nervous about him not getting enough game time.

“Someone like Kane, we’ve seen he has a lot of injuries but at the same time we can’t say that’s going to be the case.

“I would prefer someone like Callum Wilson because I don’t like seeing youngsters go to a club and not get enough game time.

“You look at Ryan Sessegnon. I had really big aspirations for him, I thought he’d do well and he’s hardly kicked a ball down there.”
