David Bentley believes that Tottenham’s new leadership will do one thing differently in the transfer window compared to what they did under Daniel Levy.
Since Levy’s exit, we have seen numerous reports that ENIC are ready to change Tottenham’s transfer strategy and go after ready-made players.
Several outlets have suggested that Spurs are ready to target elite signings over the next few transfer windows in an effort to close the gap with the best sides in the Premier League.
It was even claimed last month that the new Tottenham leadership are ready to do away with the self-imposed wage cap so that they can go toe-to-toe with other clubs for big-name signings.

David Bentley claims Tottenham will no longer sell their biggest stars
Bentley believes that following the exit of Levy, Tottenham will no longer entertain the prospect of selling any of their key players.
The former Spurs winger is confident that the best players in the Spurs squad will be convinced of the club’s ambition by their hierarchy.
Bentley told Sky Sports News: “With Daniel Levy going and whether he was running the club like a tight ship, from a financial point of view, he’d done an unbelievable job.
“Maybe he did get rid of certain players at certain times, which he shouldn’t have done and I think the new ownership or the sort of new management that are in charge are going to showcase over these two windows exactly, and they’ll tell players like van de Ven where we’re taking this football club, so he can take a feeling out of who they sign within them windows will showcase what Tottenham are going to do moving forward. So I think that will make van de Ven’s mind up moving forward.”
Why Bentley’s point about Daniel Levy is unfair
Levy rightly deserves to be criticised for many of his decisions during his tenure as Tottenham chairman, with the 63-year-old making more than his fair share of mistakes.
However, being too willing to sell Tottenham’s stars is not one of them. In fact, it was often due to Levy’s hardline stance and tough negotiating tactics that the biggest European clubs were wary of trying to sign Spurs’ best players.
Tottenham eventually sold the likes of Luka Modric and Harry Kane when they did not have a choice, but it is worth remembering that Levy prevented Modric and Kane from joining Chelsea and Man City, respectively, before they eventually got their big moves.
