David Moyes urges West Ham star Declan Rice to learn from Tottenham man

West Ham manager David Moyes has urged Declan Rice to learn leadership qualities from the likes of Harry Kane.

Kane is undoubtedly one of the best number nines that England have ever produced, with the Tottenham man looking on course to beat Wayne Rooney’s all-time goal record (TransferMarkt).

Apart from his qualities as a player, the 28-year-old’s leadership abilities have also come to the fore over the past few years in what is a relatively young England set-up.

Gareth Southgate has spoken in glowing terms of Kane’s ability to lead by example in the past (England’s official channel).

Rice, who has established himself as a mainstay in the Three Lions midfield over the past couple of years, has also previously showered praise on Kane, admitting that he is learning from the striker both on and off the pitch (Sky Sports).

Moyes believes that the likes of Kane and Harry Maguire are the perfect role models for the 23-year-old to look up to.

He told Sky Sports about the Hammers captain: “I’ve said many times, he should look at Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and all the senior players he is involved with England and take as much from them as he can.”

Kane might not be the most vocal captain going around but there are hardly any players in the modern era who are as professional as the 28-year-old. He is a near-perfect role model for young players in both the Spurs and England camps to look up to and learn from.
