David Ornstein makes confident Postecoglou claim that Spurs fans will love to hear

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has said that even though Ange Postecoglou is highly regarded by many top clubs around Europe, the Australian is expected to stay at Tottenham for the long haul.

While Tottenham may not have delivered on the kind of promise they showed a few months ago, there is no doubt that the season has been a successful one for Postecoglou so far.

He walked into Spurs at a tumultuous time last summer and had to deal with the loss of the club’s biggest modern-day legend, Harry Kane.

Not only has Postecoglou managed to make Tottenham competitive but he has also successfully changed the side from a counter-attacking outfit into one that plays enterprising, attacking football.

This has seemingly not gone unnoticed at other clubs and it was reported back in January that the 58-year-old might be a candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool this summer (The Athletic).

However, it has since been suggested by various outlets that Spurs are confident that Postecoglou will remain at the club and that the Lilywhites will not entertain any moves for their head coach from rival clubs (Telegraph).

Ornstein has now suggested that Tottenham are happy with the impact that the former Celtic boss has made, adding that he could stay at N17 for quite a while.

The journalist said in The Athletic’s Ask Ornstien column: “I imagine those in positions of power at Tottenham are pleased with his work and it is no coincidence that he is being linked some of the vacancies elsewhere – because he is regarded in the industry as an impressive guy who continues to build an impressive career, with a lot of the qualities that clubs are looking for in their prospective hires.

“That’s not to suggest he could be leaving – it looks like Postecoglou is there to stay and Spurs would hope for the long-term.”

I do not think anyone at Tottenham will have any concerns about Postecoglou jumping ship in the summer. The Australian will certainly be keen to build on the project that he has started at Hotspur Way.
