The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now ‘holding conversations’ with Julian Nagelsmann regarding their managerial vacancy.
Some reports over the last week have talked up Tottenham’s chances of landing Nageslmann, with Sport Bild suggesting a few days ago that the German is ‘tempted’ to take the job.
The Independent revealed on Tuesday that the former Bayern Munich boss wants some key demands to be met before he accepts the job, including wanting a final say on transfers.
However, there have also been some concerning updates over recent days, including one from Football Insider, which suggested that Spurs are not hopeful of landing Nagelsmann.
The publication suggested that the Lilywhites heirarchy feel that the 35-year-old might be using their interest as leverage to land other jobs.
Ornstein has now revealed on the Rio Ferdinand Presents 5 YouTube channel (starting at 15:58) that Tottenham have begun the process of hiring Antonio Conte’s replacement.

The journalist confirmed that the club have had conversations with Nagelsmann while Luis Enrique, Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany also remain on the club’s radar.
Ornstein made it clear that it is not a ‘done deal’ at the moment, with Nagelsmann or any other candidate, but the club are now working on filling the vacancy.

Nagelsmann would likely want to discuss extensive details with the Spurs hierarchy to clearly establish details on the money that would be available to spend as well as on the power he would have when it comes to the transfer decisions.
The talks might also be held up due to Tottenham simultaneously searching for a sporting director to take over from Fabio Paratici.
