David Ornstein provides Man Utd update on Harry Maguire amid Spurs links

David Ornstein has revealed on Rio Ferdinand Presents Five that Erik Tan Hag is open to keeping Tottenham target Harry Maguire at Manchester United.

News of Tottenham’s interest in Maguire came to light earlier this week, with The Daily Mail reporting that the Lilywhites have made checks on the England international’s availability on the back of Ange Postecoglou’s arrival.

Since then, outlets such as 90 min and Football Transfers have also suggested that the Lilywhites are contemplating a move for the England international.

Ten Hag would not mind keeping Harry Maguire

Ornstein has now shed light on United’s stance on Maguire, stating that despite his lack of game time this season, Ten Hag likes the centre-back and ‘will not be disappointed if he stayed’.

However, the journalist explained that the 30-year-old does not find his current situation ‘satisfactory’, which is ‘conversations will be had’ with interested clubs this summer.

Finally, Ornstein added that Tottenham not only value Maguire as a player but also believe that he has a lot to offer from a leadership standpoint.

Maguire is likely one of many centre-back options that Tottenham have their eye on this summer.

While one can understand why Spurs are monitoring his situation, there is nothing to suggest yet that we have substantiated our interest in him as we are now seemingly doing with Maddison.
