David Ornstein provides update as Spurs and Bayern talks continue – Harry Kane is leaning towards staying

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich have continued talks over Harry Kane since the North London club turned down the German side’s offer yesterday.

It was Ornstein who first broke the news on Monday that Spurs had rejected a £86m offer for Kane from Bayern, with The Daily Mail subsequently explaining yesterday that Daniel Levy considering the fixed portion of the fee (£73m) to be ‘too low’.

The Evening Standard reported this morning that the England captain is now looking likely to stay at Spurs and that he wants his future resolved one way or another before the club’s opening game against Brentford this Sunday.

Talks continue between Tottenham and Bayern

This has now been backed up by Ornstein, who stated the striker is leaning towards staying at his boyhood club.

The journalist asserted that the two clubs have had fresh talks since Bayern’s latest offer was rejected but they still remain apart in their valuations of the striker.

Ornstein also added that Kane is currently preparing for the clash against the Bees on Sunday and that Ange Postecoglou’s attacking brand of football ‘appeals’ to the 30-year-old.

If it is true that Kane wants his future sorted out before the Brentford game, Bayern would be aware that they do not have too much time to make an improved offer for the striker. One would expect a bid to be launched within the next 24 to 48 hours.
