With just a little over two hours to go until the EFL transfer window closes, it looks like Tottenham Hotspur’s entire focus is on getting the deal for Joe Rodon over the line.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has made it clear that Rodon is Spurs’ only target on deadline day and that the North Londoners remain in talks with Swansea over the centre-back.
However, he hinted that the Lilywhites are hesitant to pay the £20million that the Swans are demanding and might put the deal off until January.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now provided a more positive update as he revealed that Tottenham are ‘cautiously optimistic’ of agreeing a deal with Swansea for Rodon.
He claimed that the Championship club want around £15million, while Spurs are ready to offer around £10million for the Welsh international and that discussions were on-going between the two clubs.
The journalist also revealed that agreeing personal terms with Rodon would be a formality for the Lilywhites if they can agree on a fee with Swansea before the 5 pm deadline and that the youngster is ready to undergo a medical.
Cautious optimism around this proposed deal. Rodon is ready to undergo medical if an agreement is struck between Tottenham / Swansea & 22yo receives green light. @TimSpiers reports Ryan Bennett lined up as replacement.
