After Sheikh Jassim pulled out of the running to buy a stake in Manchester United, many suspected he could turn his attention to Tottenham Hotspur instead. But, David Ornstein claims we should not expect that to happen.
Daniel Levy and the ENIC group have been in charge of Tottenham Hotspur for over 20 years now, and it doesn’t seem they are going anywhere anytime soon.
Despite mass protests over the last year against the current ownership and their perceived lack of ambition when it comes to backing managers and investing in new players, things do appear to be a little brighter at the moment.
The success of Ange Postecoglou in his early tenure has taken some of the pressure off Levy and the board.
However, Levy has not been shy of discussing the idea of selling his stake in the club, and admitted talks were held with the QSI group at the start of this year (Bloomberg).
Don’t expect Sheikh Jassim to pursue Spurs
Sheikh Jassim has led a pretty high-profile pursuit of Manchester United over the last few months, but has now ruled himself out of taking over the club. The Mirror suggested he would now look at Tottenham instead, but Ornstein doesn’t think that will happen.
He told Five: “From people I speak to around the industry, they do not expect that to be Tottenham if they do go again. Unless things change, and things do change in this industry, I wouldn’t put much emphasis on that one.”

I would imagine that launching a bid to take over a football club is fairly strenuous and takes up a lot of time and money, so it would not be surprising if Jassim didn’t feel like going through all that again for another venture. So be it, if that’s the case, we will keep working the way we are right now and see what happens.
