David Ornstein says Spurs midfielder is expected to attract Premier League interest

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to attract interest from Premier League clubs over the coming weeks.

Over the last few weeks, it has been widely reported that Ajax and Juventus have expressed an interest in signing Hojbjerg, who is thought to be in the shop window, with the Dane allegedly said to prefer a switch to the Serie A giants (The Athletic).

However, there have been some contradictory reports from Italy over recent days about Juve’s pursuit of the 28-year-old, with some outlets playing up the Bianconeri’s chances of landing the midfielder (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).

Others, meanwhile, have suggested that the club might wait until next summer to sign the player (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Premier League interest in Hojbjerg is expected

Ornstein has now confirmed that Spurs are keen on raising some funds through Hojbjerg’s sale this month in order to pursue their transfer targets, adding that the former Southampton man could attract interest from English sides.

The journalist told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “They would like players to go. Hugo Lloris has already gone to LAFC. That doesn’t bring in a transfer fee, but it moves his salary off the wage bill, which is crucial in this financial fair play era.

“They would very gladly do the same with Eric Dier, who’s out of contract next summer and is not part of the plans. And also, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who might generate a transfer fee for them. And that could be crucial. There is expected to be interest in him in the Premier League and elsewhere.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect there to be plenty of interest in Hojbjerg from the Premier League and abroad but I am sure the Dane would want to join a mid-table club like Fulham. He might be eyeing a switch to a side such as Atletico Madrid or Juventus.
