Dawson: It’s positive and it looks good

Michael Dawson is confident about his chances of being fit to face Portsmouth.

The defender injured his Achilles in the win against Everton at the end of March and will have it assessed ahead of the match at Wembley.

“I’ve been in the gym for most of the week but have been out on the training pitch as well so it’s positive and it looks good,” he said.

Dawson missed out on Spurs’ Carling Cup triumph in 2008 and lost in the final of that competition last season.  He’s hoping this season will be a different story.

“It’s fantastic and exciting to go there for a semi-final, hopefully we will be going back there in May for the final,” he added.

“Last year was a disappointment, the year before that was fantastic but I didn’t play due to injury.

“I went on the tour of Wembley when I was younger and lifted the trophy but you never think at the time you’d get that opportunity again.”

  1. Phew. Thank god we’ll have someone in defence. Actually, I’m not too worried though, if Pompey do get past whoever plays at centre back they won’t get past gomes.

  2. 4th place will advance the club. Cup final will be a nice day out. Which is more important? Save them all: Lennon, Dawson, Ledley and everyone else for St Gazza's Day (Lest we forget…)

  3. Dawson is the 1 player of all sick list I would wish is FIT! But often heart rules the head just look at Rooney over the Road @ Ar5ena1 with both: Fabregas and Gallas and possibly Arshavin- all desperate to play but not fully fit! i hope Arry stays strong and don't panic about defence..though he is part to blame moving hutton & naughton(who would have been eligible to play) for walker & kaboul who are both inelgible- you made a gaffe Arry- even my missus would have spot that. We luv you anyways!

  4. Walis You are right about Dawson but youare wrong to say he is the most important the one player we missed badly at Sunderland was Huddlestone and he can also play at the back and in midfield plus remarkably when he has played Central defense he has not bean on the losing side and with a few Rooky players namely Zakora playing alongside him and he has not played with King or Dawson in this record. If he plays we should win without him it will be a lot harder .
