Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi has convinced Cody Gakpo to make the switch from Merseyside to north London.

So far this summer transfer window, De Zerbi has played a big part in convincing Tottenham targets to make a switch and move to N17.
The Spurs boss did so when Tottenham were in pursuit of Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes and even record signing Sandro Tonali.
De Zerbi now looks to have pulled off the same trick with Cody Gakpo. That is according to PSV insider Rik Elfrink, who reports that the Liverpool forward has formally spoken to Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi.
According to the insider’s well-informed sources, it is understood that following those talks, Gakpo is believed to be open to a Tottenham move.
He further adds that Liverpool are now willing to go ahead with the switch. He wrote on X: “Gakpo has, according to a usually well-informed source, already spoken with the Spurs coach last month.
“After that, the conclusion was that he is definitely open to a transfer to Spurs. Liverpool now seems willing to go along with it. There’s still good money in it for PSV, so interesting enough.”
Spurs face £60m Gakpo hurdle as Liverpool hold firm
Gakpo will certainly not be available on the cheap this summer, and Tottenham will have to spend upwards of £60 million to get Liverpool on board.
Reports from earlier this week even claim that Spurs have made their first Gakpo bid, with the Lilywhites offering £60 million.
However, that offer is expected to be rejected as Liverpool believe they can get a lot more from the sale of the Dutchman.
