De Zerbi reveals how he reacted in dressing room after Tottenham 2-3 Aston Villa

Roberto De Zerbi was left extremely frustrated by Tottenham’s performance against Aston Villa, who consigned his side to their third loss in five matches.

Spurs desperately needed a win ahead of the prolonged international break to bring some feel-good factor back at Hotspur Way.

However, the Lilywhites’ horrible form at home continued, as some poor defending and wasteful finishing saw them fall to their third defeat of the campaign.

The result means that Tottenham will spend the next three weeks in the relegation zone, and they will sink to bottom spot if Fulham avoid defeat against Man United this afternoon.

Roberto De Zerbi admits he did not say anything to Tottenham players after latest defeat

The Italian is not a man who is short of words, which is why his latest admission may be a concerning sign for Tottenham fans.

De Zerbi revealed that he did not say anything to his players following their 3-2 loss against Villa, and added that he is now focused on improving the fitness of some players during the three-week international break.

When asked about the fact that so many of his players will be away on international duty, De Zerbi said (via the club’s official website): “Maybe it is better. I didn’t speak with the players today because I didn’t want to say nothing. No, I have nothing with them, but the players who go with the national team, they have to play and work. The other players, Maddison Gallagher, Solanke, Tosin, Senesi, Savio, for sure we have to work more, because also the physical condition, I didn’t like even this game.”

The three-week break may be what the doctor ordered for Spurs

While De Zerbi would have been desperate for his side to pick up a win ahead of the international break, the extended break may not be a bad thing for him and his players.

It almost gives everyone at Tottenham a chance to put the first month of the campaign behind them and start afresh.

The time could also be important for Destiny Udogie, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke to build up their fitness after suffering injuries during pre-season.
