‘Deal done next week’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals new round of talks over Spurs exit

Tottenham Hotspur are set to engage in a fresh round of negotiations with Valencia regarding Bryan Gil, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Gil has continued to be linked with an exit from Tottenham this summer despite Steven Bergwijn’s departure to Ajax and multiple appearances on the bench.

Real Sociedad had also been touted to be another potential destination for the former Sevilla forward (GOL Digital), but it looks like a move to Mestalla is heating up right now.

A new meeting has been scheduled between Spurs and Gennaro Gattuso’s side as talks are progressing among both parties for Gil’s services.

There are plans to finalise a move and reach an agreement next week for the Spanish international, but there is no information about the exact terms of the deal.

Previously, Antonio Conte has publicly questioned whether Gil can adapt to the Premier League due to his lack of physicality (Football.London).

The 21-year-old still has four years left in his current contract (TransferMarkt), but whether the North London club have given up on him or not remains to be seen.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It is somewhat of a surprise to see how Tottenham are willing to shift Gil even after they lost Bergwijn to Ajax. One may have thought that perhaps it was the right time for the Spaniard to earn some minutes in N17 as a backup winger.

Spurs did make a sizeable investment in Gil after they gave £21.4 million and Erik Lamela to Julen Lopetegui’s team for his signature (The Guardian). Gil is still in the initial stages of his playing career, and giving up on him right now may not be the right choice, so a loan move would be the wisest decision at the moment.
