‘Deal is almost done’ – Sky Italy journalist makes Spurs manager claim

Tottenham Hotspur are close to a deal for Paulo Fonseca to become the club’s new head coach, according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante.

Fonseca left AS Roma at the end of last season and was swiftly replaced by the man who Daniel Levy sacked, Jose Mourinho.

The 48-year-old guided Roma to the semi-final of the Champions League last season where they were eliminated by Manchester United and finished in seventh place in the Serie A table.

His previous clubs include FC Porto, Sporting Braga and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Spurs were previously said to be closing in on former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte, but decided to pull the plug on talks after becoming concerned at his reluctant to feature some of the younger players in the squad.
