Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Fernando Llorente from Swansea City, beating Chelsea in the process.
The 32-year-old striker has signed a two-year-contract for a fee said to be in the region of £12million. The deal has dragged on today due to the fact that Swansea wanted to bring back Wilfried Bony as a replacement before allowing the Llorente deal to be sanctioned.
Llorente has been linked with Spurs for a number of years, going back to his days at Athletic Bilbao. He scored 15 goals in 33 appearances for Swansea last season, playing a pivotal part in helping the Swans to keep their place in the Premier League.
He becomes Tottenham’s second transfer deadline day signing, following PSG right-back Sergie Aurier who put pen to paper on a deal earlier today.
