Dean Saunders makes odd suggestion that Spurs should sign this Chelsea star

Tottenham Hotspur have not signed a new player in just over 15 months, with their last acquisition coming in the form of Lucas Moura from PSG way back in January 2018.

However, that has not prevented the club from selling, as first-team star Mousa Dembele transferred away in January this year.

Spurs have still yet to replace the Belgian powerhouse, a player who had been a first choice under Pochettino since the Argentine arrived in North London five years ago.

Dembele certainly leaves some big shoes to fill in the Spurs midfield, but Dean Saunders believes he knows exactly who could fill them.

The ex-footballer and manager claims that Spurs should bid for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, as he has a winning mentality and could be unhappy with his current position with the Blues.

Anyone who knows anything about the relationship between Chelsea and Tottenham will know that this is virtually a non-starter for a variety of reasons, including the intense rivalry and difference in wage structures.

Saunders said (Final Word – TalkSPORT – 05/05/2019 6:35 pm): “You know who I would sign? Kante. His enthusiasm spreads, he’s got a winning mentality and that spreads. Every club he plays for they seem to win.

“He’s playing out of position right now. He might be available. If I was Manchester United or Spurs, I’d sign him. He’s playing out of position and won’t be happy. He’s such a good pro.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

These quotes baffle me. How on Earth Saunders believes a move for Kante would be possible for Spurs is beyond me. Even if you removed the fact Tottenham and Chelsea are intense rivals, there would still be an issue with the fact he is under contract at the Blues, earns more money that Spurs could afford, and hasn’t even indicated that he wants to leave. A crazy suggestion, in my opinion.
