Defender addresses rumours about a move to Spurs or Manchester United

Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake has addressed transfer rumours linking him with a January move to Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United.

The Dutch international moved to the Cherries last year for £20million after a successful loan spell from Chelsea and has impressed during his time on the south coast.

Ake was named among the substitutes for Holland’s 3-0 UEFA Nations League group game against Germany last night and came on in the 77th minute in place of another player who has been linked with Spurs, Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong.

With Jan Vertonghen currently sidelined until the start of December at the very earliest with a hamstring problem and there is still uncertainty over Toby Alderweireld’s future at the club, it remains to be seen if Mauricio Pochettino is already looking for alternatives.

After the victory, Ake was quizzed by Dutch reporters. He told Dutch media outlet Voetbal International as quoted by Tribal Football as saying: “They are rumours.

“I am at Bournemouth and I play at the club. Everything goes well and my focus is on that.

“Of course Tottenham and Manchester United are big clubs in England, but again, I have heard nothing myself.

“We will see.”
