Defender admits he got ‘a little bit of satisfaction’ from being linked with Spurs

Loic Bade was once linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and while those rumours have dissipated now, the player has commented on how that speculation made him feel at the time.

Tottenham have carried out an extensive and well-documented search for new centre-backs over the last 12 months, with defensive frailties being a key issue last season.

The club has since snapped up both Micky van de Ven and, more recently, Radu Dragusin, leaving the Lilywhites with real strength in depth in the centre of defence for the first time in years.

A player previously suggested as a possible target for Spurs is Loic Bade. The Frenchman is now a permanent Sevilla player, after spending time on loan with the Spanish side, and he’s loving life there, clearly.

Loic Bade was happy with Spurs links

However, speaking to Estadio Deportivo the defender discussed those links from the past, and revealed how happy he was to be targeted by a ‘big’ club like Spurs.

He said: “There is a little bit of satisfaction. When a big club like Tottenham are interested, it’s because you do good things. But, on the other hand, there is something that tells you to be calm, you have to work and concentrate on games.”

However, Bade no longer has any real interest in moving on anytime soon. He added: “I’m doing well. I like the city, I’m very happy here. If I have to stay here for 20 years, I will. I’m very happy here.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think we got the right players in the end, after searching for so long for new centre-backs. Micky van de Ven especially has been one of the best signings we’ve made in many years. Hopefully Dragusin can get his chance to show what he can do soon, too.
