Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Chris Gunter.

The Welsh international will move to the City Ground on a permanent deal for £1.75million and will now undergo a medical after agreeing personal terms.

Gunter impressed during a loan spell at Forest towards the end of last season where he made eight appearances.

The 19-year-old joined Spurs in December 2008 from Cardiff City for a reported £3million fee and went on to make just five appearances for the club.

We wish him well for the future.

  1. Very disappointed by the departure of Gunter. I think he showed a lot of potential and spirit when he had the chance to play for us. I have the nagging feeling that this may come back to bite us in the arse in the not too distant future

  2. Shame he has gone but it clarifies the position a bit on the two Sheff Utd guys. Gunter gone and Chimbonda on his way too.

I always thought that Gunter was being lined up by Spurs as a central defender but hey ho.. another youngster that Spurs have bought and who has not succeded

  3. Shame – a cracking young player – cost £3m – sold £1.75 – can this be true? I, too, feel that we may cringe at this in a year or two’s time – bit like Crouch! Sold £50K! Value now £12m!

  4. Where’s Chimbonda going? I don’t want to see Hutton going. We need experience in the defensive ranks. If Chimbonda leaves we’ll be left with Corluka and Hutton as our senior pros in the RB position. I think now that Gunter’s gone this Naughton fella (if he signs) will offer cover, as Gunter did. I don’t think Hutton’s had a fair crack of the whip since he recovered from his injury. I think he’s a good player and certainly has an attacking instinct and what’s more, he can cross well. But I hear he’s a bit of a party boy!

However, what the hell do I know?!
