Defender flies to Spurs to discuss transfer

White Hart Lane

Tottenham are reported to have agreed a £1.5m deal to sign South African defender Bongani Khumalo from Supersport United.

The 23-year-old was on trial at Spurs last month and travelled back to London yesterday to discuss personal terms with Spurs.

Khumalo operates as a central defender and scored in South Africa’s 2-1 win against France in the World Cup.

A source close to the deal told the Daily Mirror: “Tottenham have requested that Khumalo be allowed to train with them again when the SuperSport fixture calendar allows him to travel to England.

“SuperSport’s next game is on October 16, and that is why they allowed him to take the trip to England.”
