Defender linked with Tottenham has agreed to join Arsenal instead – Journalist

Turkish journalist Devrim Zengi has revealed that Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has agreed to join Arsenal this summer.

The versatile Kadioglu is a left-back by trade but has also operated at right-back and in midfield on several occasions for Fenerbahce over the last couple of years.

The Turkey international is thought to have admirers in the Premier League, with Tottenham’s interest in the player first coming to light back in March when NTV Spor stated he was on the Lilywhites’ radar.

Subsequently, journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu claimed that Arsenal also held a keen interest in the defender and were planning to submit a £26m bid for him.

Kadioglu has agreed to join Arsenal

Zengi has now handed a blow to Tottenham’s chances of signing the full-back by claiming that not only has Kadioglu spoken to Mikel Arteta’s men but he has already agreed to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

He told Turkish outlet Karar: “Ferdi Kadioglu is meeting with Arsenal, Ferdi shook hands. His father, Feyzullah Kadioglu, did not say ‘yes, he is going to Arsenal, we made an agreement with Arsenal’.

“But from the questions I asked and the answers I received, I understood that Ferdi Kadioglu agreed with the Premier League giant Arsenal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand why Spurs are looking at Kadioglu as Postecoglou needs an option who can cover both full-back areas. Perhaps Tottenham will try and secure a homegrown option such as Kyle Walker-Peters, who might jump at the chance to return to N17.
