Defender takes to social media after signing new deal at Spurs

Young Tottenham full-back Dennis Cirkin has taken to social media to reveal his delight at penning his first professional contract with the club.

The young left back has featured regularly for the U-18s this season with his performances in the UEFA Youth League, in particular, catching people’s attention.

New Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho also praised the 17-year-old’s performance in the UEFA Youth League against Olympiacos and even touted him as a possible replacement for Ben Davies who is currently out with an ankle injury (Football.London).

Cirkin, a technically gifted full back who likes to get forward, has progressed through the ranks at Spurs and has even represented England at U18 level.

Jose Mourinho has certainly said all the right things about giving young players the opportunity but he doesn’t really have a great track record of trusting young players. When push comes to shove, the 56-year-old is always likely to trust proven stars and so one wonders if the likes of Cirkin would get much of a chance to get games and develop.
