“Probably the biggest thing he has done for me” – Spurs player thanks Poch

After much speculation around his future at the club, Danny Rose was surprised that manager Mauricio Pochettino picked him to start the game against Manchester United on Monday.

Danny had an extremely mixed game, and was often sloppy in possession, no more so than when his under hit back pass put striker Lukaku through on goal.

Luckily the big Belgian fluffed his lines, and Spurs ended up cruising to a 3-0 victory.

Rose was quoted in the Daily Star as saying: “I was so shocked in the meeting before we arrived [at Old Trafford]. I thought there was going to be a change but never did I think that it was going to be me coming in. I’m over the moon that I was able to be part of it.

“Monday night was massive for me, even though there is speculation. [Pochettino] still trusts and believes in me to put me into such a massive game, where he didn’t need to change anything.

“For me, over the last four or five years we’ve worked together, Monday is probably the biggest thing he has done for me. I have to thank him.”

The defender had previously been linked with moves away to PSG and Marseille, with very few Spurs fans expecting to see him get the nod over regular Ben Davies on Monday.

Rose has also confirmed that he will indeed stay in North London for the remainder of the season.

“I’m good. I’m not listening to the speculation about my future. If I’m here past Friday, which I’m expecting to be, it will be great. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve at the end of the season.

Rose: “Me and the manager have had a conversation [about my future] over the phone, as well as two one-hour meetings over the last couple of weeks. We’re both aware of the situation.”
