Defender’s agent claims potential switch talk is a ‘hoax’

Mats Hummels is not looking for a route out of Bayern Munch according to his agent.

The 30-year-old defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League after reports that he has fallen out with Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac.

Hummels has only featured 8 times for the Bavarian outfit this season as rumours have been circulating about a strained relationship between the defender and Kovac.

Further to this, Bayern have also been reported to be interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez, which will likely make Hummel’s prospect of getting first-team football with German champions look even bleaker.

German publication Bild reported this week that Hummels’ agent Marc Kosicke had travelled to London to speak to officials from Tottenham and Chelsea. However, Kosicke has since come out and rubbished the allegations calling it a ‘hoax’.

Speaking to Sport1, the defender’s representative said, “This news is a classic hoax. I can absolutely deny it”

While it seems unlikely that Daniel Levy would approve the signing of a 30-year-old, given Spurs’ recent injury troubles in the heart of their defence and the status of Alderweireld’s contract, the transfer might make sense for Tottenham.

The World Cup winner’s experience will certainly come in handy as Spurs attempt to break their trophy drought under Pochettino this season.
