Defoe has a smile on his face again

Jermain Defoe - Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Jermain Defoe seems to have a smile back on his face and believes that the current Spurs squad is capable of achieving anything.

JD came back into the Spurs side for the trip to West Brom on Saturday, after Rafael van der Vaart was ruled out with a hamstring injury.  Defoe in recent matches had found himself mostly on the bench due to the form of VDV and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Defoe helped fire Spurs to another win to continue our unbeaten run to 10 games.  The striker took his 81st minute goal superbly to put Spurs back in front – a powerdul strike from the edge of the Albion box which left Ben Foster helpless.

Harry now has a selection headache of his own.  Does he recall Van der Vaart for the visit of Bolton on Saturday, or does he keep faith with Defoe?  What would you do if you were in Harry’s shoes?

JD said after the game: “I think this is the best group of players I’ve been involved with. The squad is unbelievable.

“We’ve got two great teams in effect we can put out to be honest and it is a great time to be at the club.

“I just think the sky’s the limit for Tottenham really.”

It was Defoe’s first start for nearly two months – he deserves to start again this weekend.

  1. Play Defoe against Bolton certainly give VDV further time to recover. The games will be coming thick and fast now and traditionally this time of year is when our squad depth is tested by injuries so to be in a rich vein of form and have the quality in the squad to be able to put players in who are also in form is a blessing and to be fair how many times have we been able to say that? I’m loving how we are going about our business just now

. More of the same please let others worry about us as we keep going about our business quietly. Lillywhitetilidie

    • Agreed. We managed to settle in the second half against West Brom and if we can get a decent result there without Modric or VDV, lets keep Defoe while he is fresh and raring to go. But we did look a bit short on creativity without Modric so play him if he is available.
